Changing Aftermarket Game: Building a framework for vehicle data sharing together with CLEPA

The automotive industry is one of the main driving forces for the economy in Europe. Automotive suppliers and their supply chain need a business friendly and competitive environment in order to be able to operate and produce state-of-the-art and sustainable products and services and to create growth and employment in Europe.

The automotive suppliers are the biggest private investor into research and innovation: they invest over 20 billion euros yearly. At the same time, 18 million vehicles are manufactured per year.

CLEPA is the European Association of Automotive Suppliers. Over 120 of the world’s most prominent suppliers for high quality car parts, systems and modules and 23 National trade associations and European sector associations are members of CLEPA, representing more than 3 thousand companies, employing more than 5 million people and covering all products and services within the automotive supply chain.

Founded in 1959 and based in Brussels, Belgium, CLEPA is recognised as the natural discussion partner by the European Institutions, United Nations and fellow associations (ACEA, JAMA, MEMA, etc.). CLEPA’s vision is for the European automotive suppliers to be the leading providers of highly efficient and sustainable mobility worldwide.

A close relationship is key when connectivity and changes in vehicle ownership shake up the value chain: CLEPA has accompanied the route of CARUSO from the very beginning. Even before its foundation, CARUSO has been supporting different working groups. This was necessary to deduce the requirements for a data marketplace and to develop proper platform functions. We also carried out different proof of concepts to verify if the political requirements of CLEPA can also be implemented operationally by the OEM data sources. As a result, important industry standards and concepts have been prepared and implemented: the CARUSO data catalogue, B2B consent management and the prioritisation of use cases which can be realised by the connected companies (based on the currently available OEM data) in the role of data consumers via CARUSO in the brand-overlapping area of mobility services.

CLEPA’s Position Paper on Telematics includes the support for an interoperable, standardized and secure in-vehicle open access platform for services and future use cases. In addition, fair competition between OEM and IAM must be ensured.

We are proud that we have been working together with CLEPA on a common goal: Keeping mobility affordable for all customers and ensuring a business friendly and competitive environment in Europe.

We support each other at partner and shareholder events by putting current political and operational developments into perspective and bringing new partners together with valuable services.
